KRISTIN GLASGOW 'DANGER'S CALLIN' (SIMONE ENTERTAINMENT)
KRISTIN GLASGOW started developing her music career at a young age and it was in 2001 when she met music producer Rich Vogellehner. With him she recorded in 2004 a CD titled 'Eyes of an Angel'. Now there is a follow-up titled 'Danger's callin'. This CD features some great 80s orientated female fronted melodic rock that really is not far away from CINDY CRUSE, PAT BENATAR, LITA FORD, DONNA CHRISTY, DEVAY, TC KROSS, etc. etc. Songs like "I'm Fallin'" and "We'll Never Stop Believin'" are awesome 80s aor/melodic rockers. The sound is good and it really is great stuff what we get to hear, although not as huge sounding as HEART/VIXEN/LAOS, but nevertheless a must-have for fans of the classic 80s FF Melodic Rocksound. There's also a cover of REO SPEEDWAGON included, namely their classic "Keep pushin'" from 30 years ago, done very nicely! So, instead of the typical modern sounding FF Rock and the Gothic Metal sound, this female rocker goes musically back to the mid 1980s when all girls made this kind of catchy AOR/Melodic Rock! The late-eighties are clearly the reference musical background of Kristin
Glasgow, singer and songwriter of american origin, that reached the goal of
the second studio album, released three years later of the good debut "Eyes
Of An Angel".
The genre showed is a typical melodic hard-rock in the stars-an-stripes
vein, well fronted by the positive voice of the skilled Kristin, which
vocals style reminded me an hybrid between the scandinavian singer Erika and
Janet Gardner, famous frontman of the american memorable rockers Vixen. Just
the Vixen's well-knowed sound it seems to be a good inspiration to describe
this cd, all united with an emotional dark/melancholic mood, factor able to
give a touch of originality to the music here offered. The final result of
"Danger's Callin'" is presented into thirteen tracks (included the Reo
Speedwagon's cover "Keep Pushin'") well produced and with a lot of
arrangements cleverly studied, perfect to build an instrumental background
both rocking and full of mature melodies, another element that gives to the
pleasing voice of Kristin the right way to express herself to high levels.
"Danger's Callin'" is an album that deserve to be hearded to all the melodic
hard-rock fans of classical school, who will find in this work a lot of
pleasant and wanted melodies, well rearranged and developed on the style of
the smart Kristin. A solid album, that with few more killer-tracks could
have been a real must-buy of this genre.
FINAL COMMENT:
A fine example of female-fronted melodic hard-rock.
Rating: 76/100

From Michigan comes Kristin Glasgow with her follow up to Glasgow's 2004 "Eyes Of An Angel" CD which once again showcases catchy melodic pop rock flowing with crispy guitars that often flow with Slash inspired melodies. Vocally Kristin is up there with Darby Mills, Annica and Fiona with catchy songs like the crispy title track and "Keep Pushin'", the fantastic made for radio Fiona like 'Heaven's Got Love' where the vocal colours are massive as are the guitars is one of my favourite songs and the album, the lyrics are good and the whole song is catchy as hell.
My favourite song is the soaring dynamic but subtle "Now You're Gone", this is not a ballad but a safe cruising song this makes me think of the band Harlan Cage but with female vocals and their song "Can't Tame The Raven", very melodic, and the CD also features a lush acoustic version of the song. Armed & Dangerous" opens up with an almost "Eye Of The Tiger" style guitar riff, it's a solid guitar led rocker, right up there with Lita Ford and Pat Benatar. "Passionate Heart" is more of the same and is quite moody with sharp guitars.
"I'm Fallin' is a catchy up-tempo radio friendly Fiona style ballad, whilst 'Forever' is another of the albums standout tracks, it's mood is different, the song is very melodic its just the mood and vocals are a little deeper, a very deep passionate keyboard led melodic power ballad, and its the keyboard textures that give it that dynamic powerful feel.
The guitar instrumental 'Powerplay' caught my attention, it's catchy and made for something commercial, like a Baywatch theme, who knows maybe we'll get to see Kristin running on a beach in Pamela Anderson clad skimpy beachwear to this instrumental. "Never Stop Believin'" is catchy pop/rock again like Fiona, nice catchy heaven sent chorus and scorching guitars, another highlight, a gem. The mood "Raging Storm" is a gain very melodic with crispy guitars, and the atmospheric delicate piano instrumental "World Of Dreams" is a wonderful very cultured and inspiring piece, and sits as a nice end to this superb album
I cannot say enough good things about this record, just like Agnes last time around, soon people I hope with start talking about Kristin Glasgow.

Eyes of an Angel
Kristin Glasgow's CD, "Eyes of an Angel," was written to inspire women to be strong enough to leave violent relationships. The CD is on sale at local music shops, at the Music Achievers Conservatory in Sterling Heights, or online at www.cdbaby.com. A portion of proceeds from the sales will benefit Turning Point.
STERLING HEIGHTS -- It seems like not long ago, Kristin Glasgow was a nine-year-old starting out on her first piano lesson at Vanessa Chasney's Sterling Heights home.
But now that Glasgow has released her first CD, one that deals with her struggle and escape from an abusive marriage, Chasney said she remembers seeing that determination early in her former student/now assistant teacher's life.
"We knew (Glasgow) was talented and (the CD project) has really inspired her and others, too," said Chasney, who runs the Music Achievers Conservatory in Sterling Heights. "If anything was to ever happen to me, she can run my school. ... No one has been as dedicated as Kristin."
Glasgow, who had her last visit with her counselor two months ago at a domestic abuse shelter in Mount Clemens, now considers herself a survivor. And she shares that story in her recently released CD, "Eyes of an Angel."
"It's all such a blur," said Glasgow, 24, who lives in Warren. "I mean, the CD is done and I did my first concert already and I have another one coming. It's just amazing."
After suffering through a five-year abusive relationship, which included a 3 1/2 month marriage, Glasgow found the strength to leave her husband, she said. Glasgow said she found solace in three things: her family, her counselor at Turning Point, and her music.
Her CD, which was released earlier this year, has several songs -- including "Freedom," "Strong," and "Now and Forever," -- encouraging women to have faith in themselves.
The project preceded Glasgow's marriage, she said. Glasgow was approached by music writer and producer Rich Vogellehner, who was looking for a lyricist and female singer. Glasgow took on the project, but said her fiance at the time kept her from committing to it.
"Even when they were engaged, it was hard to work because she had excuse after excuse as to why she couldn't make it," Vogellehner said.
But after filing for divorce, and retreating to her parents' home in northern Michigan, Glasgow said music became her therapy. Vogellehner would send her instrumental CDs in the mail and Glasgow said she would sit in her room and just write for hours.
"I think God guided me; everything just flowed," she said. "Once I left him, I had all this free time. Music was my focus and I was finally able to finish the CD."
Glasgow soon after returned to the area, began recording her CD and resumed her teaching position at the Music Achievers Conservatory in Sterling Heights. Glasgow also teaches at a Montessori in Mount Clemens. But she hopes to create an organization to help women escape abusive relationships and give them resources to rebuild their lives, she said.
"I really believe this is my calling," she said. "I had to go through the good, the bad and the ugly to get here."
Glasgow has dedicated a portion of the proceeds from her CD sales to Turning Point. She also had given a copy of the CD to her counselor, who listened to it and bought 22 more to pass out to other counselors and victims, Glasgow said.
The music would definitely help inspire women that are victims of domestic abuse, according to Turning Point officials.
"It's really encouraging and cathartic when people find out there are women who have gone through similar experiences," said Jenny Schultz, director of community development. "That's a main tactic for (abusers), to isolate the women and make them feel like nobody cares.
"When the women find out that they're not alone and people believe them, it's empowering."

Most of Foley's alumni go on to great things after high school. Then there are some who achieve their highest and life-long goals. Kristin Glasgow is one of them. Kristin Glasgow is a '98 graduate of Bishop Foley who enjoyed her four years of high school. Once Kristin graduated, she embarked on the pathway to her musical career. Not only has Kristin made her first CD, but she will be performing concerts. Her first concert was this year, November 12th, at the Music Stadium in Macomb. During her concert she had colored spotlights and fog machines. Her next concert will be January 28th at Magahay Elementary School in Sterling Heights.
With a lot of hard work, Kristin recorded her first CD. Most of her recording sessions took place late at night. Her CD took a whole 19 months to be written, recorded, mastered, and duplicated.
"Most of the proceeds from my CD sales and concerts go to Turning Point in Mt. CLemens, which is a counseling center for abused women and children," Kristin said. Many of the stories her music tells are about her hardships she faced while being a victim of domestic abuse in her marriage.
Once Kristin's popularity spreads, and she "makes it big," another goal of hers is to establish refuges in various locations for abused women to live and be counseled.
Making these establishments is very important to Kristin, and she won't let anything get in her way.
Kristin Glasgow has so many influeces in her life that she found it difficult to name them all and put them in order, but she is certain that her main and number one influence is God. "Without Him to lead me on this journey and give me strength to follow my dreams despite my hardships, this CD would never have happened" Kristin explained.
Kristin's parents and brother have also influenced her by not letting her give up her dreams and always giving her support for her aspirations. As far as other influential musicains, she can't really narrow it down to who influenced her the most since music has been a big part of her life since she was five years-old.
As far as as what genre Kristin's music falls into, it is up in the air. She has done a great job at varying the way she expresses herself musically. Krisitn does not want to limit herself when it comes to what she loves the most.
Kristin has two websties where one can listen to MP3s or order her CD. Musicachievers.com is always updated with news, pictures and upcoming concert dates. CD Baby.com is where her CD is on sale.
Not only does Kristin get to live out her dreams, but she also makes life better for others, whether it be the impact her music makes on people or her compassion to help out others when they are in need.
